Hello My Name Is…
I have lived in Arizona almost my whole life and consider myself a full-fledged Sonoran Desert Rat! I know the summers here are a little toasty, but I would choose them any day over the Utah winters I survived during my undergraduate studies at BYU where I completed a bachelor’s degree in 1984. (Yes, that was 30 years ago!)
After spending a little over a year in Guatemala I felt confident about my Spanish-speaking abilities. Now, however, I consider myself only conversational, but I love to practice with anyone who has the patience to chat with me! My husband, Rod, and I have been married over 25 years and have four children. When they were small, I was a stay-at-home mom, which I think is the best job in the world! As they grew, I found myself hanging around the school a lot, so I decided to go back to school and finished my teaching certificate in 2006. I have taught nearly every grade K-5.
This year I will be serving as the Reading Specialist. I will work with nearly every student from Kindergarten through 6th Grade at some point during the school year through testing, small group instruction, and classroom support.
I love the Sequoia motto, “Where Every Child is Known”. I take that as a personal challenge and strive to know the reading abilities and needs of each student at Sequoia Lehi Elementary. I feel blessed to be part of the Sequoia Lehi staff.
